Problem Identification

We are running online ads without a unified design guide.

  • HF Design's online ads lacked a consistent design system and were created in varying styles depending on each content designer's personal style, preferences, or schedule. As a result, we continuously faced issues such as unpredictable delays, long production times, and low conversion rates due to inconsistent visuals. To address these inefficiencies, we initiated the development of an optimized social media design guide specifically for HF Design's online ads. As both the project manager and content designer, I formed an independent task force (TF) and took the lead in executing the project.

To maximize visual impact, we highlight the product and the model.

  • Image selection is one of the key elements in the final outcome of online ads. To maximize visual impact, I prioritized images that emphasize the product or model without complex backgrounds. I also designed the layout to allow flexible scaling of images based on their characteristics. In particular, product and model images were designed to make full use of grid spaces spanning six or more columns.

Enhancing Text Readability with a Semi-Transparent Black Overlay

  • Since each image varies in layout, brightness, and saturation, relying solely on image space to convey information had its limitations. The overlay ensured consistent visibility and high readability regardless of the image's condition.

Layout

Designing Optimal Text Placement with Safe Margins and Visual Harmony

  • To prevent content from being cut off or losing readability when placed over images, setting safe margins is essential. I also systematically adjusted spacing between elements—such as headlines, subtext, and logos—to ensure a balanced and visually harmonious composition.

Typography

Designed Four Typography Styles to Accommodate a Range of Content

  • HF Design offers a wide range of categories such as hardwood, laminate, and vinyl, with various brands and products within each. To effectively communicate this diverse content, a flexible typography system was essential. I developed four typography styles—Basic, Brand, Product, and Presentation (PT)—and provided recommended guidelines to ensure their optimal use across different content types.

Results

Production Time Reduced by 75%, Conversion Rate Increased by 1.7×

  • The social media design guide delivered exceptional results across both operational efficiency and business performance. Production time was dramatically reduced from 16+ hours to just 4 hours per project—a 75% improvement that freed up valuable team resources. More importantly, the conversion rate increased by 1.7×, proving that consistent, optimized visual design directly impacts customer engagement and sales performance.
